Room Spray with Lemon Basil
Cleanse rooms with the fresh aroma of lemon and basil. Begin by boiling 34 cups of water in a pot or tea kettle and pouring it into a liquid measuring cup to make a DIY room spray. Allow it to soak for a few minutes after adding four teaspoons of dried basil. Place a funnel lined with a coffee filter in the opening of a reusable spray bottle. Pour the basil and water mixture carefully through the filter into the bottle to remove the herbs, then discard the filter. Fill the bottle with 34 cups of pure water, one tablespoon of vodka, and five drops of lemon essential oil. Shake the spray bottle top to blend the ingredients. Spray the odor remover in the room as needed.
Wax Melts with Essential Oils
- To make your wax melt, you’ll need a slow cooker, a slow cooker liner, and silicone molds (we used a silicone pan for square ice cubes). First, line the slow cooker with a plastic liner. Then add two cups of soy wax pellets and reduce to a low heat. Add one teaspoon of lavender essential oil, 34 teaspoons of cedarwood essential oil, and 12 teaspoons of vetiver essential oil once melted. Thoroughly combine before carefully removing the lining. Insert the liner into a liquid measuring cup, tucking the extra plastic over the cup’s edge. Pour the wax mixture over the dried lavender in the silicone mold. Allow the wax to cool completely at room temperature before removing it from the mold to use in a store-bought wax warmer.
Tips for making your halls, entryways, and other areas smell good
- Because “anywhere else” in the house also includes the majority of the house! Those in-between zones have a lot of square footage and deserve some attention as well.
- If your doorway is smelling strange, it may be time to deodorize your shoes. Put them in the washing machine if they’re washable. If they can’t be washed, try wiping them with a rubbing alcohol-dampened cloth.
- When you change your air conditioner filter, put a few drops of essential oil on it. As your air conditioner cools your home, it will also disperse those delectable, natural aromas around the space.
- On that note, replace your furnace filter. You won’t have to wait until summer to enjoy the mood-lifting properties of essential oils.
- Are you worried about the strong odor of fresh paint? Add a spoonful of vanilla extract to your paint to mask the odor. Simply add it directly to the gallon of paint, stir it with a paint stirrer, and then continue painting as usual.
- When cleaning, use vinegar. Vinegar is a natural deodorizer, and the sourness of vinegar fades quickly after cleaning.
Tips for making your living room smell nice
- This is quite likely the most popular hangout spot in the entire house. And the most visible. Your visitors do not want to experience stale, foul air or strange pet pee odors. That’s not what you want for them.
- Vacuuming can sometimes emit a foul stench. To counteract this, insert a cotton ball soaked in essential oils into the vacuum bag. A simple method to turn vacuuming into a scent-infused experience.
- Take care of the carpet. Carpet absorbs aromas and must be deodorized regularly to combat odors caused by pet dander, sweat, smoking, and mildew. Some solutions for neutralizing carpet odors include using white vinegar, baking soda, club soda, and humidifiers.
- Using a Febreze Plug, you may get rid of odors. Unlike quick treatments that only last a few hours, a plug eliminates odors and radiates freshness constantly for up to 1200 hours on the low setting.
- Make use of a diffuser and a few drops of your preferred essential oils. This allows you to tailor the aroma to your preferences! Alternatively, go wild and combine oils to create your ideal blend.
- Allow fresh air to enter by opening a window. Of course, this is very dependent on the weather. In the middle of winter or during a thunderstorm, this may not be the best deodorizing solution.
Kitchen odors change.
- Their smell is determined by what’s cooking (or brewing, spilled, sitting in the sink, decomposing in the trash can, etc., etc.). However, there are numerous small changes and adjustments you can do in your kitchen to neutralize and refresh its baseline odor. (Hint: the majority of these involve sewers and pipelines.)
- Sniff around your dishwasher if you have a bad odor in your kitchen. Though it may seem paradoxical, your dishwasher should be cleaned regularly. Follow the cleaning instructions in your dishwasher’s handbook or read this article for step-by-step dishwasher odor removal procedures.
- Place a small dish of coffee grinds in the refrigerator or freezer to absorb the odor of last week’s leftovers.
- Just make sure to clear out your fridge as well. Coffee grinds have little effect on rotting seafood.
- If you don’t have any coffee (or simply dislike the fragrance of coffee), place a cotton ball soaked in vanilla extract in the refrigerator or freezer.
- In your waste disposal, grind up lemon peels. This will not only clean out your disposal, but it will also spread delightful citrus fragrances throughout your kitchen. In addition, eating the leftover fruit can help you receive your daily dose of vitamin C.
- If you don’t have a garbage disposal but still want to eliminate odors from your sink, pour boiling water down the drain. Do this to save time and water.
