How to Make a Smoothie
- Pour 1⁄2 to 1 cup (120 to 240 ml) of liquid into a blender. If you put the liquid in a blender first, the machine will have an easy time mixing the ingredients. Although milk and juice are common smoothie liquids, you can use water, coconut milk, yogurt, or non-dairy milk, such as soy, hemp, or almond milk.
- If you would like to cut out some of the smoothie flavors, you can use cold tea, vegetable juice, or 1/2 juice and 1/2 water.
- Put 2 to 3 cups (350 to 525 g) of fruit in a blender. Many smoothies include fruit and you can choose one type or combination. You can also decide if you would like to use fresh or frozen fruit. Frozen fruit will make your smoothie bigger, so you may want to leave the ice when you mix it. Remember that some fruits, such as bananas or mangoes, are so delicious that you may not need to use extra supplements. Try making a smoothie with any of these fruits:
- Berries: Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, berries
- Oranges: oranges, grapes
- Pears
- Stone fruits: peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries
- Mango
- Bananas
- Papaya
Tip: Always remove leaves, stems, or holes from the fruit. If you use large fruits, cut them into pieces before putting them in a blender.
- Add extra milk if you would like to thicken the smoothie. Instead of adding extra milk, which will make the smoothie thinner, add a scoop of Greek yogurt or frozen yogurt. Greek yogurt will add protein and strengthen the smoothie while frozen yogurt will make the whole smoothie taste creamier and dense.
- Try using a different yogurt flavor. You can match the taste of the fruit or use the corresponding flavor. For example, make a peach smoothie with peach Greek yogurt or try a peanut butter smoothie with frozen chocolate yogurt.
- Add spices, herbs, or flavors to make a unique smoothie. You will find a lot of delicious flavors in the product you are using, so you do not have to add spices unless you want a special taste. For example, if you want warmer flavors, add a pinch of cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, or cardamom. For a strong herbal flavor, add 1 to 2 sprigs of fresh herbs, such as basil or lavender.
- You can also add a few drops of shape. Try vanilla, lemon, mint, or almond extract.
- Add peanut butter, oats, or nuts to give the smoothie a filling texture. If you would like more protein in your smoothie, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of your favorite peanut butter, chopped oats, or tofu. You may want to add an interesting texture by mixing a handful of nuts or seeds, such as chia seeds, flax seeds, or sunflower seeds.
- Once you have mixed the smoothie, you may want to add an even more unique texture. You could stir a handful of dried fruit, a few tablespoons of fried coconut, a small spoonful of small chocolate, or a handful of crushed graham crackers.
- Add a lot of protein powder or your favorite ingredient. If you would like to add protein, but do not want your smoothie to taste like peanut butter, add about 2 tablespoons (28 g) of protein powder. The powder will quickly dissolve in the smoothie. This is also a great opportunity to use any nutritional powder supplement you use.
- Try incorporating your collagen supplement into your morning smoothie, for example.
- Combine the sweetener you choose according to your preference. You can use your favorite type of sweetener to enhance the taste of your smoothie. If you do not want to use regular sugar, try adding a few soft dates or dried figs, prunes, or apricots. You can also add honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup to a smoothie.
- If you are not sure how much sweetener you can add, you may want to combine a smoothie and taste it. This will give you a better idea of how much sweetener you can use.
- Add about 1 cup (220 g) of ice. If you would like a thick smoothie, start with at least 1 cup of ice (220 g) ice cream and add more as needed. If you use frozen fruit, you can leave ice because the frozen fruit will act like ice. Remember that if you leave the ice and fresh fruit, your smoothie will look like juice
- You can freeze any smoothie ingredients to help the drink solidify. For example, instead of using fresh berries, open a bag of frozen berries and pour them directly into a blender.
- Turn off the blender and mix in the smoothie for about 1 minute. Keep mixing until the ingredients are combined and smooth as you like. Then, pour the smoothie into 1 or 2 glasses and enjoy!
- If you need to store an extra smoothie, pour it into an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 8 months. Keep in mind that the smoothie will start to melt in the fridge and you may want to mix it with extra ice before serving. To give a frozen smoothie, transfer it directly to a blender and mix until smooth.
- If you like, decorate your smoothie with a piece of fruit you usually make. For example, place an orange wheel on the edge of a glass when you make a citrus smoothie.
- Add vegetables if you would like a very tasty drink. Limit the amount of fruit you use to use a total of 2 to 3 cups (350 to 525 g) for a new product. You can use 1 cup of fruit (175 g) and 1 cup (175 g) of vegetables, for example. Leafy vegetables, such as spinach and kale, combine easily.
- You could also try an edible vegetable with succulent branches, cucumbers, or bell pepper.
- Create a creamy smoothie with mango and peaches. Make a refreshing smoothie by mixing 3 cups (495 g) of chopped mangoes and 2 cups (450 g) of chopped peaches, one cup (285 g) of Greek yogurt, 1⁄2 cup (120 ml) of milk, and milk. 1 teaspoon (2 g) of ground ginger. Then taste the smoothie and add honey as sweet as you like.
- If you would like a little more flavor, add 4 fresh mint leaves before mixing the smoothie.
- Replace with any kind of yogurt you like. For example, use peach yogurt to get a better taste of the fruit.
