1. Decide on a good, simple recipe for your pressure cooker cake. You can start with a simple eggless sponge cake with a tutti frutti made from a pressure cooker but you can guess that almost all cake recipes will work well in a pressure cooker as well. Prepare the dough and set it aside.
2. Use a pressure cooker for at least 3 liters, but 5 liters is a good size and I would recommend it. I’ve found that people try cakes in 10-liter press containers and I am successful so size is not a problem. Your cooking time and the size of the cake pan may need to be adjusted accordingly.
3. Remove the gasket (rubber liner) from the pressure cooker cover. This is an important step. You also do not need a whistle. You also do not need to add any water to the pressure cooker, in addition to the bottom.

4. My pressure cooker comes with this stand that goes down to the cooking pan. It dissipates heat evenly and is especially useful when baking a cake in a pressure cooker. If you do not have the same item, try to find a replacement. Perhaps a thin, thick metal plate can also do the job.

The cake pan should touch the bottom of the pressure cooker directly as that may cause the bottom of the cake to cook quickly. Another option is to place a pressure cooker on a griddle or Tawa and bake the cake. It is simply a separation between the flame and the bottom of the cooker to protect the cake.
5. Another important thing to remember is, to DO NOT spill any water in the baking pan. If you do, you will be blasting the cake (which is right – here’s my way of boiling the cake) but here we are trying to build an oven-like environment using a pressure cooker as much as possible. The heat generated in the pressure cooker will be enough to cook/bake the cake.
6. Before you start baking the cake, you need to first heat the pressure cooker. For this, just place the lid (without the gasket) in a pressure cooker (which should not contain water) and cook on high heat for 2 minutes.

7. Now you can put the cake batter in the middle. Be sure to use a cake pan that fits snugly inside your press machine without touching the sides. Use a pot holder as the cook will be hot due to pre-heating.

After adding the dough, close the lid and cook on low heat for 5 minutes and reduce the heat to just a boil. The cake, depending on the size of your cake pan and pressure cooker, will take anywhere between 45 minutes to 1 hour to bake.
IMPORTANT NOTES:–
- A pressure cooker is not intended for baking or use in the manner described above so consider that before using it to make a cake.
- Don’t expect a pressure cooker to explode into pieces while I cook (I was very worried about this, however, for no reason) but it could jeopardize the quality of the safety valve on the lid and high temperatures could cause the handle and other components. a slight deterioration.
- Using your pressure cooker to bake once or twice a year is probably okay but not always. If you bake anything more than once a month, I recommend buying an oven. It will fit and your options are much wider than using a pressure cooker to bake.
- Always check the manufacturer’s instructions to make sure that your design and model of the pressure cooker can cope with this. I’m not sure how the steel pressure cooker will behave, mine is a 5-liter aluminum base. It is best not to do this in a non-stick pressure cooker as the dry heat of the non-stick area without water or oil is advised.
- All that aside, you can bake an eggless vanilla cake with tutti frutti in a pressure cooker and it was moist and delicious. You may also love this chocolate cake recipe, which has no eggs, but it is so good that you can’t tell if the cake is made from a pressure cooker and not in the oven.
